Upon Arrival

The flight from Houston to Glasgow takes 12 hours and there's a six hour time difference between here and there. If I leave at 7 AM Houston time, I will arrive in Glasgow at 1 AM. To arrive at 8 AM, I have to leave Houston at 2 PM.

In Glasgow, I will take a train to Balloch and a bus to Drymen (1.5 hrs). I'll relax in Drymen that evening, then hit the trail the next morning.

Rob Roy Way: 103.25 miles/ 9 days

Day 2: Drymen to Aberfoyle (11 miles/ 5-6 hrs)

Day 3: Aberfoyle to Callander (9.5 miles/ 5.5-6.5 hrs)

Day 4: Callander to Strathyre (9.5 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 5: Ben Ledi loop (6.25 miles/ 4-6 hrs)

           This detour is in the middle of the Callander to Strathyre stretch.

           I will try to make it a U instead of a loop to cut down on length.

Day 6: Strathyre to Killin (13.5 miles/ 5-6 hrs)

           In Killin, I’ll make lodging arrangements for after I finish this leg. 

Day 7: Killin to Ardtalnaig (12 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 8: Ardtalnaig to Amulree* (16.5 miles/ 6-7 hrs) *map necessary

Day 9: Amulree to Aberfeldy* (15.5 miles/ 6-7 hrs) *map necessary

Day 10: Aberfeldy to Pitlochry (9.5 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 11,12: Catch a ride from Pitlochry to Killin (or nearby), get a place to stay, do laundry, etc.

Day 13: Inverarnan to Tyndrum (12 miles/ 5-6 hrs)

Day 14: Tyndrum to Inveroran (8.75 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 15: Inveroran to Kings House (9.75 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 16: Kings House to Kinlochleven (8.75 miles/ 4-5 hrs)

Day 17: Kinlochleven to Fort William (15.25 miles, 6-7 hrs)

Day 18: Rest in Fort William

Mull of Kintyre

Day 19: Ft. William, rent a car, drive to Mull of Kintyre (5-6 hrs)

Day 20: Mull of Kintyre trail (2-3 hrs), drive back to Ft William

Glennfinnan Viaduct

Fort William to Glenfinnan by train is about 30 mins and only costs about $10. (The reviews say the steam train isn't worth the extra cost.) I'll have to hop off the train (hopefully, it stops) and then wait for the next one, which might not be until the next day.

Day 21: Glenfinnan Viaduct trail (2.5 miles/ 1-2 hrs)

Isle of Skye

Day 22: Glenfinnan to Mallaig is an hour by train and about $20.

              Mallaig to Armadale (Isle of Skye) via ferry costs about $10.

              Rent a car or use the local buses to get to Portree

              and around the Isle of Skye.
